Less pretentious and perhaps a little too honest version

My professional employment history, outside of editing, is erratic and limited to low level positions, many of which were at the mercy of an unstable family situation and my own adolescent lack of self-awareness and experience during the time. I've been a busser, a waitress, a grocery store bagger, a childcare teacher, a carnival-style games operator in a casino, and a UPS Store clerk. I've worked in retail, yard maintenance, and as an aid for children receiving special education services.

I am more easily prone to distraction than the average person, I can often be disorganized, at times impulsive, and invariably either in motion or seeking movement. I am also, however, adept under pressure, very able to maintain and create with minimal resources, comfortable and open to change and growth, and always socially, emotionally, and professionally perceptive to a task and to others.

My editorial career began, rather reluctantly, at home and well before my teenaged years. I was the resident letter writer, application manager, and family storyteller. I wrote my first court appeal and character reference (successfully) before I hit puberty. I took pride in my ability to manipulate words in such a way that I was able to get my family what they needed.

Where, in general, I may lack the ability to maintain focus and organization, I am able to, contrarily, maintain tremendous attention in connection with anything I am passionate about, and I am passionate about language and communication, and with its existing and potential impact.
